SALVASOL - SOLAR CHARGING STATIONS
The photovoltaic charging station presented by Rambiental and awarded at the IDEAS 2009 Energy Contest for Latin America and Caribbean, is a small and cheap solar mobile charging station for rural households that are not connected to the national grid. The stations enable each owner to charge a LED lamp, mobile phone and also operate a radio or small television.
In order to diffuse this innovation in El Salvador, Rambiental, in collaboration with the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas, a leader in photovoltaic technology in the country, with the International NGO GVEP and the German Technical Cooperation GTZ, have developed a project to be realized through the network of Local Economic Development Agencies - LEDA, which will create and train micro enterprises producing solar chargers.
The ECCA Training School of El Salvador, LEDA reference organization in the country, pointed out this innovation in the framework of the established collaboration with IDEASS aimed at identifying appropriate technologies for micro-enterprises oriented to sustainable environmental development.
