IDEASS ACTORS
NATIONAL INSTITUTION
The Laboratorio Tecnológico of Uruguay is the national institution in charge of the IDEASS activities in the country.
LATU, the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay, is an organization created in 1965 as a result of joint effort between the government and private sectors. It was initially called Analysis and Essay Laboratory, but later - since August 28, 1975 – it is using the current denomination.
Its mission is to enhance the sustainable development of the country and its international insertion, through innovation and transfer of valid solutions in analytical, metrological, technological services, and their management and assessment of accordance with the current regulations.
LATU is a public not state institution, and it’s managed by a board composed by: the president, who is a representative of the Government (Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining), and two directors, representatives of the Chamber of Industries of Uruguay and the República Bank.

PROMOTERS
The ART Uruguay Programme for the Local Development is the main promoter of IDEASS in the country. The Programme, realized by UNDP in collaboration with other UN Agencies, is coordinated a national level by the Oficina de Planeamiento y Presupuesto of the Presidence of the Republic (OPP), in collaboration with the Intendientes Congress. In 2008, the Regions of Artigas, Rivera, Salto, Paysandú, Cerro Largo, Trenta y Tres, Rocha, Flores, Canelones y Motenvideo participate in the Programme. The projects of technological and methodological transfer of IDEASS are promoted and carried out in these regions.
